All automobile manufacturers are required to meet prescribed standards; these standards ensure the safety of passengers.

In the case of a windshield, it must be laminated glass, i.e., two layers of glass with a PVB interlayer, to ensure the safety of the passengers in the event of any accident or if a sharp object is thrown at the windshield. In any of these cases, the windshield will break but not fall apart, which will allow the driver to still get to where he needs to go.

Automobile glass is made of tempered glass, which is not easily broken, but when broken it will shatter into small pieces that will not pose a danger. Therefore, if an accident occurs and passengers are trapped inside the car, they can break these glass to escape without getting hurt.
